Question: How do the Slendertone abdominal products target the lower abs?

Answer: During voluntary muscle contraction the brain sends signals down the spinal cord and out to the muscle via nerves where a complex electrochemical process results in muscle contraction.  The Slendertone abdominal products use EMS technology to mimic the body’s natural process.  It sends signals to the nerves in and around the muscle, which results in subsequent muscle contraction.  It should be noted that muscle contraction results by targeting the nerves rather than targeting the muscles directly.

Slendertone selected a gel pad location for the Slendertone abdominal toners that allows maximal nerve activation and hence maximal muscle activation.  The abdominal toners target the centre and side abdominal muscles, namely Rectus Abdominis, External Oblique, Internal Oblique and Transversus Abdominis.  The nerves that activate the upper and lower centre abdominal muscles originate in the spinal cord and circle around the body passing between the waist and ribs, hence the location of the side gel pads. 

By sending signals between the side and the middle gel pads, the product targets these nerves and in doing so both upper and lower abdominal muscle contract.  By targeting the nerves, it is not necessary to have gel pads that cover the entire muscle.  Muscles whose nerves have been activated but which do not lie beneath a gel pad will still therefore contract.  The middle gel pad location of the product lies over the umbilicus (belly button) - it is centrally placed between the “upper” and “lower” abs.  This is the best location to get strong comfortable abdominal muscle contractions that have been shown to give improvements in muscle strength, muscular endurance with users reporting a firmer, flatter stomach.

 

Question: Will it hurt?

Answer:  NO!  But you do want to ensure that you are working your muscles and feel the ‘Slendertone Sensation’!  When you first put on the product and turn it on, you are at the lowest setting.  As you increase the intensity (to level 25 and beyond), the sensation goes from a tingly feel, to a distinct muscle contraction and relaxed state. These feelings will alternate.  It feels like you are tightening/flexing and then releasing/relaxing your muscles.  This is good - because feeling the muscles work lets you know that the product is doing what it is supposed to!  It is very important to strive for this distinct feeling, to ensure that you get a full workout.

As you advance, your muscles will get stronger and firmer, and you will get accustomed to the feel of muscle conditioning. Be sure to periodically increase the intensity to always feel the Slendertone Sensation!

 

Question:  Are there any side effects from using Slendertone products?

Answer:  There are no side effects from using Slendertone products provided that you follow the instructions and you do not have a medical condition that is contra-indicated in our manuals.  You control the intensity levels of the product to a level that is comfortable for you.  You must also leave 8 hours between sessions in order that you do not over exercise your muscles.

 

Question: Using our product while carrying out cardio exercise or on a treadmill/operating machinery

Answer: Our position is that you should only use our belt while doing light cardio exercise such as brisk walking.  We would recommend if you are doing light cardio exercise that you reduce the intensity a little.

As a precaution, we would advise users not to use our belt while using any type of exercise machine such as a treadmill (even at low intensities) as the user will be occupied controlling both the exercise machine and the belt.  The same applies when operating any type of machinery.

 

Question: Using more than one EMS product at a time

Answer:  We don't recommend using more than one EMS product at a time for safety reasons, in case a user would accidentally alter the wrong controller leading to discomfort or temporary excessive stim sensation, for example, a user thinks they are controlling the abs intensity but actually it is the bottom intensity they are altering.  Users can use more than one device but we don't recommend using them simultaneously.

Question:  What are gel pads?

Answer:  Gel pads are medical-grade products.  Their unique coating adheres to your skin and helps conduct the impulses to your muscles safely and effectively.  Their large size ensures the comfort of your training session.  Gel pads last for approx. 25-30 sessions.  The success of your toning session relies on the quality of your gel pads.

Question: Can I share my belt with my partner?

Answer:  Yes of course.  However, if more than one person intends to use the belt, we recommend ordering two belts and here is why:

  • The gel pads are placed on the belt according to your waist size.  If you share your belt, the gel pads will wear quicker as they will need to be re-positioned for your partner unless you are both the same size.
  • You will also need to change the gel pads much more frequently if you are sharing.  If you do choose to share your belt, you must order more gel pads on your first order because the first set won’t last long enough to see results between two people.
  • You won’t be able to wear the belt at the same time if you share.  A lot of people wear the belts together while taking walks, doing chores around the house etc….

 

Question: Can I use Slendertone Abs8 to treat weakened muscles due to a forced rest due to an injury?

Answer:  Yes, the product can be used to relieve or compensate the effects of an injury.  It is necessary to consult your doctor or physiotherapist to establish a rehabilitation programme with the belt, which would help to improve the strength and tone of the abdominal muscles safely.

 

Question: Does electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) cause muscle soreness?

Answer: Like all exercise, some muscle soreness can be expected.  Use a lower toning intensity if you are experiencing excessive soreness.

 

Question: Can I burn calories by using Slendertone products?

Answer: The only way that you can ‘burn’ calories is by aerobic exercise and Slendertone products do not constitute this type of exercise.

 

Question: Can I use the product after having a baby?

Answer: Yes, in fact Slendertone Abs8 is great for firming up tummy muscles after pregnancy.  Please wait a minimum of six weeks after natural childbirth or three months after a caesarean section.  Seek approval from your doctor before use.

Question: How long after having an abortion do you have to wait after to use the Slendertone product?

Answer: You must wait at least six weeks following your abortion (you must consult your doctor first).

 

Question: Can I use a Slendertone Abs8 belt if I have a belly button piercing?

Answer: We advise taking out your belly button piercing before toning.

 

Question: How long do you have to wait after having an IUD Device fitted?

Answer: You must wait at least four weeks after having an IUD fitted, this applies to both copper and Mirena type coils.  This is to ensure that the abdominal contractions don’t have any impact, in terms of dislodgement, on the newly fitted device.

 

Question: I suffer with MS – can I use Slendertone products?

Answer: We can confirm that EMS has been used to prevent muscle atrophy with mixed results.  We don’t believe that there is any risk associated in using it and think it could be beneficial for you.  If you have any concerns, however, we strongly recommend that you discuss these with your doctor.

 

Question: I have been successfully treated for cancer – can I use Slendertone products?

Answer: We include a caution about cancer because the effects of stim on abnormal tissue has not been studied, and therefore we cannot be sure that there aren’t any negative effects.   We cannot recommend the use of our products for you.

 

Question: I suffer with ME – can I use Slendertone products?

Answer: We have not specifically included this in our list of cautions, as it is not being studied.  However, we do not believe that, for sufferers of ME, there is any risk associated in using our products.  If you have any concerns, however, we strongly recommend that you discuss these with your doctor.

 

Question: I suffer with Peripheral Neuropathy – can I use Slendertone products?

Answer: We do not have specific information about use of EMS with this condition.  We advise against using EMS if skin sensation, in the area of the gel pads, is impaired.  It is also not known whether EMS could exacerbate the condition, though it seems very unlikely that it would.  There may indeed be some benefit to using EMS but you would need to consult with your doctor before use.

 

Question: I had a hernia, can you advise when I can start toning again?

Answer: Slendertone can be used to strengthen and rehabilitate muscle and could be beneficial in this case if used under medical supervision.  The gel pads should not be placed over the site of surgical repair.  We believe that six weeks would be an appropriate time to wait for the surgical repair to heal before using Slendertone but this should be confirmed with your consultant.  Please also read the instruction manual carefully for other precautionary information.

 

Question: I have had diabetes for years with no complications, why can’t I use Slendertone products?

Answer: We recommend that you check with your doctor before using Slendertone products.  We have included this contra-indication in our manuals as some diabetes patients inject insulin in the abdominal area.  We do not have any evidence of any adverse reaction, it is a theoretical risk and therefore we must give the appropriate advice.

 

Question: I have a heart condition (or had a heart attack several years ago) – can I use Slendertone products?

Answer: Using Slendertone products may be considered comparable to moderate to heavy abdominal training.  The Slendertone Abdominal products can result in strong abdominal muscle contractions resulting in subsequent strength improvements as proven in our clinical trials.

The use of Slendertone products for someone who has suffered a heart attack is not recommended, as it is important to have a detailed knowledge of a person’s previous medical history when prescribing exercise to such a population.  Any exercise in such a population should be light to moderate and should be gradually progressive.

When using the Slendertone abdominal toning suite of products, the muscles of the abdominal wall contract.  With all muscle contractions there can be a tendency to breath hold which may result in elevated blood pressure, which is undesirable in a person who has recently suffered a heart attack.  This is one of the main reasons its use is contra-indicated in this population.

A person’s ability to use a Slendertone Abdominal toner is dependent on their current exercise level.  If a person is exercising to a moderate level - both aerobic and resistance exercise, they should be able to use Slendertone if they (i) begin gently and do not increase the intensity levels too high at the beginning and (ii) they - under no circumstances - breath hold whilst using the device.  Their ability is therefore in some ways comparable to their ability to complete normal exercise.

 

Question: I have Diastasis Recti following my pregnancy and have a gap in my abs muscles, can you tell me if your product will help to close the gap and tone my muscles?

Answer: Slendertone Abs belts will certainly strengthen and tone your abs muscles.  However, we cannot guarantee that it will close the gap.  There have certainly been cases where it has helped however each individual is different.  We recommend that all users consult their doctor before initiating training as they will be familiar with your condition and should be able to advise whether EMS technology is suitable for you.

 

Question: I have recently lost a lot of weight after having my child I'm happy with how much I have lost and happy with most of my body but I have been left with some excess skin on my tummy I was wondering If the Slendertone belt can help with this?

Answer: Our products are designed to directly stimulate your muscles which will result in toning, strengthening and tightening them.  Some users may find that they also see a little tightening of the skin but we cannot guarantee this I’m afraid.

 

Question: Is the pulsation coming from the belt radiation which may lead to cancer?

Answer: The belts emit very very low levels of radiation but these conform to all radiation safety standards so the products are safe to use.  For reference a mobile phone will emit more than 50 times more radiation than a Slendertone. The radiation levels really are very low!

How the controller works

  1. On / Off / Pause Button - Press this button to turn your controller on or off. You may also pause the exercise by briefly pressing this button during a toning session.
  2. Intensity Up Button  (  +  ) - Press this button to increase the intensity of the exercise.
  3. Intensity Down Button  (  -  ) - Press this button to decrease the intensity of the exercise.
  4. Programme Button  ( P ) - Press this button to select the toning programme you wish to use. There are 10 programmes in total.

Question: What do I need to work the Slendertone Abs8?

Answer: You need the Slendertone Abs8 toning belt, controller, USB charger and one set of gel pads.

 

Question: How long does the battery take to charge?

Answer: We advise fully charging the battery before use which will take up to three hours and should last for at least three sessions at full power.  When your power is getting low, the battery icon will display one bar.

 

Question: How do I assemble the belt correctly?

Answer: Follow these steps to tone effectively according to your personal body type:

1.            Turn the belt over so that the metal studs inside the markers are facing up.

2.            Take the three gel pads out of the packaging.  You have one square gel pad and two oval gel pads. On all three, one side has a grid pattern and the other is black.

3.            Remove the three protective plastic covers from the grid side of the gel pads.  You can discard these as they are no longer needed.

The belt has three different markings to indicate the gel pad positions for three different sizes: small, medium and large.

For a smaller waist, from 24-29 inches (61-74cm), you should place the edge of the gel pad just over the first line nearest the centre of the belt.  For a medium waist from 30-35 inches (76-89cm) place it just over the second line, and for waists from 36-42 inches (91-107cm), place it over the third line furthest away from the centre.

The largest gel pad will be positioned in the centre of the belt.

4.            Place the gel pads face down so that the grid pattern is on the metal studs, ensuring that the entire metal stud is covered.

5.            Remove the re-usable plastic covers from the Slendertone branded side of the gel pads to expose the adhesive gel.  It is very important to keep these plastic covers, as you’ll need them after each session to keep the gel pads protected.

6.            Position the belt over your waist, ensuring that the square gel pad is over your navel (belly button).

7.            Press firmly onto the skin and stretch the belt around your waist.  Ensure that the oval gel pads sit between your hips and ribs.

8.            Firmly fasten the belt so that it compresses without causing discomfort.

9.            Connect the controller into its holster on the belt by aligning the magnetic connectors, it will then click into place. 

 

Question: What happens if the gel pads aren’t placed grid-side down on the metal studs?

Answer: The grid side evenly distributes the EMS signal from the metal studs.  Incorrectly placing it results in less effective signal delivery and a lower training intensity tolerance.

 

Question: What happens if I don’t take off the plastic covers?

Answer:               The gel pads use a water-based, adhesive gel that sends the EMS signals into the muscles – this isn’t possible with the plastic covers blocking the signals.  Keep these plastic covers to protect your gel pads after each toning session.

 

Question: What intensity should I use?

Answer: A definitive recommended intensity does not exist – each person will have their own suitable training level or intensity they should work at.  The simple advice is that you should select an intensity that maintains your comfort but is suitably challenging.  We advise that you turn the intensity to the maximum level you feel comfortable with.  We recommend you gradually increase the toning intensity during each session.

 

Question: What if I wanted to move the belt or gel pads?

Answer: You can, but the position we advise has been clinically proven to be the optimal placement to stimulate the nerves that activate your abs.  Avoid positioning over the hips and ribs and DO NOT place near the heart.

 

Question: Where can I view my toning progress?

Answer: Your toning progress can be viewed directly after powering on the controller.  The history is displayed in successive screens.  The controller stores: (1) Highest intensity reached in the previous session, (2) Number of sessions completed in current programme, and (3) Total number of sessions completed.

 

Question: How many sessions can I do in a day?

Answer: We recommend a maximum of 2 sessions per day.  If you feel sore, stop for the day to rest and recover.  It’s during these rest periods that your muscles are growing stronger.

 

Question: How many sessions should I do in a week?

Answer: For the best results try to complete at least 4-5 toning sessions each week.  You can do more or less sessions, depending on your lifestyle and how fresh your muscles feel after your last workout.

 

Question: What is the warranty period on my product?

Answer: Your Slendertone product comes with a two-year warranty on electronic parts.  If a fault develops, view our troubleshooting section or get in touch with our Customer Care Team directly.

 

Question: Where can I purchase replacement gel pads?

Question: Is the workout the same on both sides of the abdominal muscles?

Answer: The stimulation pulse delivered by Slendertone using the patented three gel pad arrangement is symmetric on both sides of the abdominals meaning the muscles on both your right and left-hand side are getting the same workout (provided both sides are turned up to the same intensity of course).

Some users may experience perceptual differences in the sensation of the training, most likely due to a slight variance in the positioning of the belt on the right or left side of the stomach.  This minor difference might cause the user to be slightly closer to the motor point (point where a nerve innervates a muscle) on one side and subsequently get a different sensation.  However, the workout provided is equal on both sides.  In the event of a slightly different sensation, the user should pause the product and readjust the positioning slightly to see does this correct any discrepancies in sensation.

 

Question: Can I use the belt while exercising?

Answer: This combined approach is likely to deliver even better results as your muscles are working harder whilst doing a voluntary workout as well as working via EMS (electrical muscle stimulation).  We advise doing gentle exercises such as walking or Pilates and using an intensity that is slightly lower than what you are used to.  The combined approach will be tougher on your abs during your workout.

If using Slendertone Abs8 whilst doing sit ups, we recommend that you complete the sit up when you feel the stimulation coming on.

 

Question: How can I increase the intensity of my toning session?

Answer: You can increase the intensity using the + button on your controller and decrease with the - button.

 

Question: How do I know when I should replace the gel pads?

Answer: The success of your sessions depends on the quality of your gel pads. We recommend replacing your gel pads after 25 to 30 sessions. In order to keep the stimulation pleasant and effective, and to make the most of Slendertone Connect, you should protect the gel pads with the clear plastic covers after each session. So, you can extend the life of the gel pads.

If the signal is weakening (even when the battery is still OK), it usually indicates that the gel pads are wearing out.  Check this by adjusting your abs belt to ensure correct, firm positioning.

If this fails, it may be time to get new gel pads. Their adhesive, water-based composition deteriorates over time, so we advise replacing them every 25-30 toning sessions.

Toning

Question: I’m ready to start toning. How do I control my Slendertone Abs8?

Answer: After setting up your belt, turn on the controller by pressing and holding the power button for 2 seconds.  Press the + button to begin increasing the intensity.

This automatically starts the countdown timer of the programme you selected.  You can pause this at any time by pressing the power button.  Press it again to resume/stop or hold down to switch off.

 

Question: What does the sensation feel like?

Answer: When you start to increase the intensity, you will feel a mild pulsing sensation, followed by a gradual tightening of the abdominal muscles.  The muscles should contract smoothly, hold themselves in a tensed position for a few seconds and gently relax again, just like when you are completing a normal muscle contraction.

You can control the intensity of the muscle stimulation via the Slendertone Abs8 controller on your belt.

 

Question: What toning programmes does the Slendertone Abs8 feature?

Answer:  Slendertone Abs8 features 10 programmes:

Programmes 1-7 are described as Passive Programmes i.e. only the Abs Belt working to stimulate the muscles.  This programme can be used when doing passive activity e.g. while reading, cooking, doing chores around the house etc.

Programmes 8-10 are described as Active Programmes i.e. a combination of both Abs Belt toning and user exercises to stimulate the muscles.  This programme can be used when doing physical activity e.g. walking, jogging, while doing ab crunches.

You can select any programme you wish at any time, however it’s important to note, a programme cannot be changed during a session, you must first switch off your controller and then switch it on again.  Press the ‘P’ button to display the programmes and select the desired one.

Endurance

Endurance toning programme can be used while doing light cardio activity such as walking. Begin your light cardio routine while slowly increasing the intensity until you find a strong, comfortable level that allows you to continue your workout while toning your abs.

Beginner Crunch

Beginner Crunch programme can be performed while doing ab crunches. Wearing your abs belt, lie on your back and bend your knees to approx. 90˚. Switch your controller on, when the stimulation starts draw your navel in towards your spine and hold until stimulation stops. Relax until the next cycle and repeat.

Advanced Side Crunch

Advanced Crunch programme can be performed while doing side crunches.  When the stimulation starts, slowly curl the left shoulder upwards and towards the centre of your body to coincide with the contraction on the right hand side of your abdomen. Hold the contraction for two seconds then return to starting position and relax fully. Next do the same with your right shoulder and repeat the process. When you have completed 10 crunches on either side, the abs belt begins a 20-second relaxation period.

Note: After three sets of 20 reps (10 each side) the programme will end.


Question: Which toning programme should I use?

Answer: There are 10 toning programmes to choose from.  We would recommend that you start off at programme one and work your way through the programmes based on your toning need.  Each programme varies in stimulation levels, toning power or number of contractions.

 

Question: How do I change my toning programme?

Answer: Simply press the ‘P’ button to change programmes before beginning any toning session.  By continuing to press ‘P’ you can cycle through the 10 programmes available.

 

Question: How many sessions will the battery last for?

Answer: If the battery is fully charged it will last for a minimum of three sessions at full power (highest intensity).

Troubleshooting

Question: I find it difficult putting on the belt.  What should I do?

Answer: If you have trouble fitting the belt around your waist, you should hold the belt by the ends, position the middle gel pad as usual and stretch the belt as far as you can before fastening it behind your back.  A belt extension is also available on www.slendertone.com.


Question: The controller is on but there is no stimulation.  I can't feel anything.

Answer: You may need to increase the intensity to feel a stronger stimulation

 

Question: What if my battery dies during a session?

Answer: Recharge the controller.  Always try to recharge when you only have 1 bar of battery power remaining.

 

Question: Why am I getting an ‘ERR’ error message on my display screen?

Answer: Consult our comprehensive troubleshooting section.

 

Question: Product just received but is not powering on?

Answer: Recharge fully for up to three hours.  The product should power on following a full recharge.  If the product does not power on after a full recharge, please contact Customer Care.

 

Question: 002 Error is appearing on the display?

Answer: If this error appeared once at the start of a session you can continue using the product and it will operate correctly.  If this error is appearing frequently either at the start of a session or during a session there could be a hardware issue, please contact Customer Care.

 

Question: The battery icon displays after USB has been disconnected.

Answer: Re-connect USB cable and remove the USB cable again.  This will resolve the issue.

 

Question: The performance of the battery has degraded significantly. Why?

Answer: Our batteries are designed to last for years, but if you do experience a degradation of your battery performance we recommend you contact our Customer Care Team. Slendertone Abs8 batteries cannot be replaced.  Please do not attempt to open the controller as this will void your warranty.

 

Question: The contractions are very weak even when the intensity is high.

Answer: This may be the result of worn gel pads. We recommend replacing your gel pads after twenty to thirty sessions. This is to ensure the stimulation remains comfortable and effective and you get the most out of your Slendertone product.  You can purchase replacement gel pads on www.slendertone.com.

 

Question: My controller will not charge.

Answer: The USB cable may be faulty or connected to a source that is not able to provide the charge level required.

Plug the USB charging cable into a different USB port on your PC or plug the USB into a wall adaptor capable of at least 500mA. Alternatively, you can try another standard micro-USB cable.  If none of the above solves your issue, please contact the Customer Care Team.  Always try to use the USB charging cable supplied.  You can buy a replacement USB cable on www.slendertone.com

 

Question: Why won't the gel pads stick to the belt (even though they’re fairly new)?

Answer: Ensure that the grid pattern side of the gel pads are placed over the metal studs (with the black side on your skin).  Check that you’ve removed the plastic covers too before applying the gel pads.

Before and after each session, you should also press the edges of each gel pad very firmly onto the belt.

 

Question: Can I replace the Slendertone Abs8 controller battery?

Answer: Our batteries are designed to last for years, but if you do experience a degradation of your battery performance we recommend you contact our Customer Care Team. Slendertone Abs8 batteries cannot be replaced.  Please do not attempt to open the controller as this will void your warranty.

 

Question: The controller keeps beeping.

Answer: This may be due to a number of factors:

Before removing your belt to troubleshoot ensure the controller is switched off.  You can do this by pressing the Slendertone power button on your controller for three seconds.

  1. Ensure your battery is fully charged.
  2. The Controller may not be properly connected to the belt.  Ensure the Controller is fully connected to the belt via the magnetic connectors.
  3. The plastic covers may still be on the gel pads, ensure the plastic covers have been removed from the gel pads on both sides.
  4. The metal studs under the gel pads may need to be cleaned.  Use a dry cloth to clean the metal studs as there can be a build-up of gel.
  5. The gel pads may be placed incorrectly.  Ensure the gel pads have the grid patterned side in contact with the metal studs.
  6. The gel pads are worn and may need to be replaced.  You can purchase new gel pads on www.slendertone.com.
  7. If the problem still persists after checking the above please contact our Customer Care Team for assistance.

 

Question: The controller does not switch on when the power button is pressed.

Answer: It is likely that the battery is depleted.

Recharge the battery fully for up to three hours until the battery indicator shows a full battery.  If the problem persists call the Customer Care Team for further assistance.

 

Question: Why do I experience an unpleasant feeling beneath the gel pads?

Answer: There may be poor gel pad contact with your skin.

Before removing your belt to troubleshoot ensure the controller is switched off.  You can do this by pressing the Slendertone power button on your controller for three seconds.

  1. Remove the belt.
  2. Remove the gel pads.
  3. Wipe the metal studs with a dry cloth.
  4. Replace the gel pads ensuring the metal studs are covered.
  5. Put the belt back on and switch on the controller.

 

Question: I can’t feel any stimulation from the middle gel pad?

Answer: If you just started using a Slendertone belt for the first time you are probably using it at a low intensity (under 30).  It is quite normal that you would feel more stimulation at the side (oblique muscles) than in the middle (abdominal muscle) as we use our abdominal muscles every day and they are not as sensitive as the oblique muscles. You should select an intensity level which is comfortable but suitably challenging and continue to increase the intensity as you progress to maximise your workout.  As you increase the intensity you will start to feel the stimulation in your abdominal muscle.

 

Question: Why do I feel a tingling sensation in my legs?

Answer: A tingling sensation in your legs indicates that the gel pads are over your hip-bones.

Moving the two oval gel pads upwards and inwards on your waist (i.e. towards the centre of your body) should prevent this.

Remember to pause or switch off your Slendertone Abs8 Controller before adjusting the belt or gel pads.  You can do this by pressing the Slendertone Abs8 power button to switch it off.

 

Question: The stimulation is uncomfortable – how can I boost comfort?

Answer: Ensure that the gel pads are correctly positioned and pressed firmly on the skin. Tighten the belt for a snug fit (remember to pause your session before repositioning the belt).

Check the intensity too.  If it’s too high, reduce the stimulation so that it’s more comfortable.  User Tip – The intensity should be raised to the maximum level while still maintaining your comfort – you should check your tolerance level periodically and adjust if possible.

 

Question: Why are my stomach muscles exercising but not my waist muscles?

Answer: People come in all shapes and sizes and the gel pad positioning can be easily customised for your body type.

You can move the central gel pad slightly higher or lower than your navel.  There are three size indicators on the belt, to help you target specific muscles based on the location of the nerves.

You can move the two side oval gel pads to accommodate different sizes.  For larger waists, move away from the centre gel pad and closer for slimmer waists.

Pause the programme and reposition the central gel pad slightly higher on your stomach.  If this does not help, move the two smaller gel pads to a larger figure setting on the belt (away from the central gel pad).

Question: Why are my waist muscles exercising but not my stomach muscles?

Answer: Check that the position of the square gel pad is centred over your navel. Alternatively move the belt down slightly.  If this doesn't help, move the oval gel pads to a smaller size setting and/or increase the intensity.  It is normal that the stimulation in your centre does not feel as strong as the stimulation of your side muscles.  All your muscles will be working.  As you continue to increase the intensity you will feel the stimulation in all your abdominal muscles.

 

Question: Why is my skin red after a session?

Answer: Some redness is natural.  It is partly due to increased blood flow and should fade soon after.  It can also occur due to the pressure of your belt.

Only wear the belt during a session.  If the redness is excessive, try turning down the intensity.  If the problem persists, contact our Customer Care Team.
